Wrecked on the beach
By 2000 the "Manchester and Salford Lifeboat" was in a very sorry state however she was afloat when I bought her but when I returned somebody had liberated the mooring ropes and she was pushed ashore well above the normal high water level. She just wouldn't float on any normal tide. The saga of how to re-float her started with us trying to lower her manually by 2 metres and digging a very large channel down the beach with a friendly Irishman in a JCB . Below you can see the process from high and dry to re-float and crane out.
