Rebuilding the curved aft deck
At first we thought we might be able to save the end box but the more we stripped it the more problems we found. The Oak curves that form the deck edge were rotten and although the deck planks and hoops (Oak frames) were OK they all had to come off to enable us to get at the oak edges. In the end the curved oak hoops were the only things we kept.
Main reconstruction details: 2 off layers of 6 mm marine ply, epoxy bonded together then epoxy sheathed prior to laying 6 mm teak deck planks. Plus new main beams, new curved edge beams and copper rivets.
